TOPIC: Security and Virtualisation – they’re not mutually exclusive!

Many people believe that the biggest inhibitor to virtualisation and the move towards the cloud is security. The truth is, if you do it right, the virtual infrastructure can be more secure than physically separated infrastructure! All the benefits and cost savings associated with virtualisation with no trade off with security is a pretty compelling message. Come to this session and learn how you can get the best of both worlds – reduce the complexity and cost of your IT infrastructure without compromising security.

This session will inform you about the ‘trusted platform’ work being carried out by companies such as EMC, RSA and VMware, as well as how to design your security into the new virtual infrastructure.

Tim Smith, Director at Bridge Point, will facilitate the session and question a panel of industry experts. Tim will put forward the questions and concerns he is hearing from his clients from a security compliance perspective around PCI DSS and ISO 27001, as well as concerns around the overall architecture of a complete virtual environment. The expert panel will address these concerns and formulate a clear path as to how the virtual environment can be secured from each vendor’s perspective and jointly present a unified solution. A use case will be discussed and real world examples given as to how security can be baked in at all levels of the stack.
